THIS IS A SPOILER!!!! please don't read it if it would spoil your fun in watching. it's just me not being able to hold back to tell people what I saw today. but before the spoiler, the drabble first:
I don't like waking up early. And it's raining today, waking up to a cold morning is not the best way to begin my day. but hey, today is Iwojima's roadshow start, so I get out from my dormitory at 8 since the theater is nowhere near, and I thought the earliest show is 9.40.
by the time I reach the station, I couldn't feel my hands. I know I should've brought gloves. then, I got shocked by the long line in front of the theater. It's not even 9! could it be I got no chance? when I asked some people, it turns out some of them wants to watch bushi no ichibun. kimutaku is surely strong.
so I got the ticket, it's 10.20. reminded by a very familiar feeling, I haven't got breakfast yet, so I got a grab in nearest McD. I am so excited and scared at the same time. what if it's not as good as people say? It's not that I don't believe in him, I know he'll be great, but great is not enough when you face people like Watanabe Ken and Ihara Tsuyoshi (they're really had "kakkoii" written on their forehead).
before the movie started, I spotted two (probably junior high) girls in front row holding jun and sho's uchiwas. eeeh~?! why not nino??
the seats are not 100% full, but this is good for 10.20 and a war movie. a lot of elders came. for the emotional part. a lot of youngsters came. part of responsibility as Arashi fans (like me?)?
when the movie ended and I got out, I found VERY long line of people wants to see Iwojima. I'm glad I wake up early and got the first show.
spoiler!
nino lives on!!!! well, he probably get slayed soon after, but I prayed so much saigo would come back to his wife and daughter. the end was american soldier catch him, but the war is over so they didn't kill him, they even take care of his wound. saigo just won't be the same person anymore.
everyone else died. Kase Ryo done good, but Nakamura Shidou's a bit exaggerating (hell, who am I to speak?). and I didn't know that Ihara Tsuyoshi is my type. everything about Watanabe Ken is kakkoii, I can't be objective about him either.
it's a movie about two side, Ken-san is the leader, part of those who know what this war is for. those who think deeply and everything. Saigo is like the lowest soldier, those who listen to commands. those who got into this because they were supposed to. saigo did his best to stay alive, yet it was after he decided not to run anymore, he got saved.
I had to admit, I missed a lot of words. I really have to study more. and being a fangirl, I couldn't focus at anything else when Nino is on screen. I love him, but I also love good movies, and not being able to become objective is ridiculously disturbing.
my favourite parts: (not in order of appearance)
1. in the middle of war, saigo drop a tin bucket and had to take it back, it's really small thing, it's just a damn tin bucket, but he risk his life and nearly get killed in taking it back. people who's in the middle of the war really don't have a normal sense anymore. he is very close to get hit by missile, yet he smile when he can take that thing back.
2. when saigo is being called to war and his wife said "please, don't take him" and the woman who came with the soldier got angry and said "it's not the time to say that. everyone is sending their husband and son."
for me, it sounds like "I am suffering so why won't you?"
3. when the japanese captured an american soldier and ihara said "did any of you ever become an american soldier?"
then he talked to the heavily injured american, saying he had been in america for quite some time (because he's an olympic athlete) and the american got relaxed and started to talk to him too. they really don't have any reason to hate each other. not even one.
4. aa~ too many... I can't pick anymore.
I'm surprised that I didn't cry. but I left the theater with a pain in my chest. it's quite intense, so when I walked out and walking in the rain and saw the very peaceful japan around me, it's...a different feeling...
anyway, our Ninomiya is doing absolutely amazing! It's not Nino at all, it's 100% Saigo. now give him the oscar please! (my wishful thinking). ok, my heart still have a hole in it so I have to see Nino smile to assure myself he's somewhere in Tokyo doing fine.
so now I'm waiting for boku imo and haikei, chichiuesama. anyone wants spoiler on that two? (of course not!)
First review I'm reading about the actual film from a fan!
although I got spoilt somewhere else quite awhile ago, I still skipped your spoilers, just in case there are more (heh)!
But I did scroll to read that you had to assure yourself that he's somewhere in Tokyo doing fine...so it's like how it was in The Blue Light, right? His acting was so great that I had problem detatching Nino from the character he was playing. Scary how good acting can do that. "--

I'm one of those people who is not spoiled by spoilers so I read your spoilers anyway. It made me want to see the movie so much (as if I didn't want to see the movie enough already, but still! T_T).
Nino has garner many praises so far for his performance. But I would wish to see people decribe it more in detail why he is "terrific", why his performance is "strong" and so on. It's because I'm the type who wants to know the reasons behind the conclusion. ^^;;;

sorry for the over the top reaction m(_ _)m. read your spoilers anyways :p
i'm like rin. i was hoping some reviewer will reveal why they are taken by Nino's performance instead of giving him one word praises.
**sigh**
